Memorial 2009. We had a lot of firsts this evening. This was Van's first memorial. His first tie. His first group picture with the kids. And the first time in 9 years that I didn't cry. I don't know if it is just because as time goes by the pain dulls a little or if it was the pleasant distraction that Van provided. He was so wiggely and he kept trying to climb out of my lap. He was busy making other people laugh and then he was busy making motor boat noises. He decided to sing both song while holding the song book. It cracked me up because he looked like a big boy in his suit and tie. He was so serious singing, too. He kept looking up at me to make sure I was singing, as he made his singing noises. And then he had a bit of gas.....more than a bit...quite a lot. At least he wasn't the only one. His friend Nevada let a big one rip right after passing the wine. So here are some pics of Van's first memorial.

Mia and Van before we left the house. He finally stopped crying. As you will see in another pic, he didn't like the tie very much.

My big boy and big girl on our deck.

Van did not like getting the tie put on. He was a very unhappy camper for a little bit before we left the house. But he looks so cute!!!!!

Van loves being with the big kids. This is Jeremiah and Nevada.

Here are all our babies! The Evergreen kids. There is one missing. Sawyer is in PA right now visiting his grandparents. As you can see, Van is turning into a little boy. The whole time he just wanted to pull Abbey's hair. Hopefully next years picture will be better and in a nice remodeled hall!!!!

He is such a cutie, and Mia too! Van reminds me so much of Mia as a baby. Must be the rosey cheeks and bald head! Heehee!
You have a ton of kids in your hall! That is good to see! Love you all! Amy
